Schneider Charge is a Level 2 home EV charger from Schneider Electric. It hardwires directly into your home’s electrical system and delivers up to 11.5 kW of charging power, enough to charge most electric vehicles overnight. It also features SmartAmp load management, which automatically adjusts charging speed based on your home’s electrical demand to maximize available capacity and help you avoid costly electrical upgrades.
In many cases, yes. Schneider Charge uses SmartAmp load management, which monitors your home’s electrical use in real time using current transformers wired to your panel. When other appliances are drawing power, SmartAmp dials back the charging speed to keep your total usage within safe limits. When demand drops, it speeds back up. This can help many homeowners install a Level 2 charger without the added cost of upgrading their electrical panel.
Schneider Charge is available in two versions to support the most common EV connector types. The NACS version works with Tesla vehicles and other EVs that use the North American Charging Standard. The J1772 version works with most other electric vehicles, including models from Ford, Chevrolet, Hyundai, Kia, BMW, Rivian and many others. Together, these two options cover virtually every EV available in the U.S. today.
A standard installation by a Qmerit-certified electrician typically takes two to four hours, depending on your electrical setup and the distance from the charger to your panel.
