Austin, TX – Sept. 4, 2024 – Qmerit Founder and Chief Executive Officer Tracy K. Price has announced his intention to retire from his role this Fall, culminating a remarkable 10-year journey in which he grew Qmerit from a small startup into a North American leader in the transition to a more sustainable, resilient and electric-powered future.
Price’s request was approved by the Qmerit Board of Directors in April of this year with the recommendation that he remain as a consultant on strategy and customer engagement for the following 12-month term, renewable annually. His retirement as CEO and his new support role takes effect October 31, 2024. (Price’s note to customers, partners, and fellow Qmeritans here)
Qmerit Chief Operating Officer Oliver Phillips will continue to lead the day-to-day operations of the company. Phillips will be charged with advancing the company’s position as a trusted source of implementation and systems integration services for a broad range of electrification technologies, both in the U.S. and as part of the firm’s recent launch into Europe and the United Kingdom.
“I’ve been blessed to have built and monetized several companies but have never quite been able to figure out a way to manufacture time,” said Price in announcing his decision to Qmerit. “I am thankful for the resiliency and uniqueness of our business model – our activity pipeline has reached an all-time high, and now is the right time for me to begin this new chapter. There is much more to be achieved in the Qmerit adventure, and I know we have the team to realize those ambitions.”
Since its founding in 2016, the Qmerit network has implemented more than 450,000 EV charging systems and 81,000 solar panel projects, in addition to 37,000 battery storage units and 28,000 solutions that integrate battery and solar technologies. Qmerit has also grown a network of more than 23,000 licensed and certified electricians while forging partnerships with premier domestic and global automakers, utility providers, and other energy and electrical services organizations.
A milestone was attained in June when the firm rolled out PowerHouse by Qmerit™, a suite of residential installation and integration services — including vehicle-to-home (V2H) emergency power – aligned to consumers’ growing demand for energy solutions that bring greater resiliency and monetary benefits for the home with less pollution for communities.
“I could not be more excited and humbled to continue the leadership with the tremendous success that Tracy and our team has accomplished,” said Phillips, who joined Qmerit in 2021 as Chief Financial Officer. “We’ve arrived at a pivotal moment in which Qmerit is uniquely positioned to help usher a more efficient, cost-effective, and consumer-oriented era in energy production and distribution.”
Among his accolades, Price in 2008 received the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award (Western Region) and in 2009 TLG won Microsoft’s Overall Customer Achievement Award. He is also a Forbes Business Council member, a role in which he advances electrification education related to transportation; home and building infrastructure; utility integration and grid resiliency; consumer affordability and ease-of-use; and workforce approaches that promote trust and confidence.
