Austin, Texas – Oct. 7, 2024 – Qmerit, North America’s leading provider of implementation and integration solutions for EV charging and other energy transition technologies, has entered a partnership with Dominion Energy Virginia to make home charging more accessible and affordable for their Virginia customers.
Qmerit is now Dominion Energy Virginia’s preferred installer of Level 2 home charging systems under the utility’s newly launched Residential Charger Program. The program enables customers to spread the cost of their charging equipment and installation via their monthly utility bills, reducing upfront costs. Income-qualifying customers can receive charging equipment and installation at no cost.
“This partnership reduces a key barrier to broader EV adoption in Virginia,” said Bianca Sloma, Qmerit’s Vice President of Utility Solutions. “Customers now have easy access to home charger implementation services that are streamlined, skilled, and trusted.”
Under the Dominion Energy Virginia Residential Charger Program, customers are referred to a Qmerit charging advisor after completing a pre-qualification form. The advisor collects details on the customers’ charging needs and home specifications to determine eligibility and scope. Those who qualify receive the charging equipment and installation from a Qmerit network electrician who is certified and vetted via a unique workforce management platform giving Qmerit the highest customer scores in the industry. The final package receives a five-year warranty and maintenance from Qmerit.
“This partnership underscores how important workforce solutions and cross-sector teaming are to America’s electrification journey,” said Tom Bowen, President of Qmerit Solutions. “It’s one thing to create a new technology – it’s another to have the ecosystem in place to make it consumer-ready.”
With Dominion Energy Virginia, Qmerit now has eight strategic utility partnerships across the nation, including the Salt River Project in Phoenix, the Sacramento Municipal Utility District (SMUD), and Atlanta-based Cobb EMC. These partnerships encompass more than 2 million homes, underscoring their potential to fast forward EV ownership in America by making the acquisition of home charging more attainable. Qmerit has also pioneered partnerships with the world’s leading automakers, including GM, Ford, Tesla, Chrysler, Toyota, Mercedes-Benz, Volvo, Lucid, and many others.
