Is there an EV charger rebate program in Utah?
Yes, in 2026 the Utah Department of Environmental Quality’s EV Charger Program offers rebates for commercial, workplace, multifamily, government, and home EV charging projects, up to $7,000 per charging port.
Applicants must have site control over the proposed charger installation location, and the program requires pre‑approval and BABA‑compliant equipment.

Yes, in 2026 Empire Electric Association offers rebates for installing Level 2 home EV chargers, up to $625 if you enroll in a time-of-use (TOU) rate.
And Rocky Mountain Power offers commercial EV charging rebates, up to 75% of total charger cost.
Empire Electric Association EV Charger Rebate
You can get up to $125 in a rebate applied toward the purchase and installation of a Level 2 EV charger with this utility, not to exceed 50% of the total cost of the project. If you enroll in the utility’s time-of-use (TOU) rate, the total rebate amount will increase to $625.
Participants must have an electrican’s receipt to qualify for installation rebates.
Rocky Mountain Power EV Charger Rebates for Businesses
Rebates from Rocky Mountain Power are available to Utah businesses, communities and multifamily properties for both AC Level 2 and DC Fast Chargers.
AC Level 2 Chargers
- Single port: 75% of total charger cost, up to $1,000 per charger
- Dual port: 75% of total charger cost, up to $1,500
DC Fast Chargers
Charging rate >= 150 kW per port
- Single port: 75% of total charger cost, up to $30,000 per charger
- Dual port: 75% of total charger cost, up to $42,000
Charging rate < 150 kW per port
- Single port: 75% of total charger cost, up to $15,000 per charger
- Dual port: 75% of total charger cost, up to $21,000

Does Utah Have EV Charger Tax Credits?
No, as of July 2026, Utah does not have a state-wide tax credit for EV chargers, and two federal programs – the Alternative Fuel Vehicle Refueling Property Credit and the 30C commercial charging tax credit – both expired on June 30, 2026.

EV Charging Rates in Utah

Some EV‑specific TOU pilot rates are closed to new enrollment, but Utah customers can still enroll in Rocky Mountain Power’s residential TOU plans. You can save money by shifting your energy use away from on-peak hours between 6 p.m. and 10 p.m. on weekdays.
Energy Charge Pricing
June through September
- On-peak: 32.0834¢ per kilowatt-hour (kWh)
- Off-peak: 7.1296¢ per kWh
October through May
- On-peak: 28.3924¢ per kWh
- Off-peak: 6.3094¢ per kWh
Dixie Power
If you get your electricity through Dixie Power, you can enroll in a TOU program with an on-peak period that only happens in the summer between 3:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Your on-peak rate will be $0.10 per kWh, and you’ll pay just $0.04 per kWh outside of these hours.
Empire Electric Association
The Empire Electric Association TOU rate divides the day between an on-peak period from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. and an off-peak period outside of these hours. You’ll pay $0.18 per kWh during the on-peak period and $0.05 per kWh any time outside of these hours.
If you enroll in the TOU rate, you may be eligible to purchase and install a Level 2 EV charger and claim a rebate worth up to $625.
Garkane Energy
Garkane Energy also offers a TOU rate with on-peak hours lasting from 6 a.m. to 11 a.m. in the winter and 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. in the summer, with a rate of $0.11 per kWh. Outside of these hours, you’ll pay only $0.05 per kWh.
Raft River REC
Raft River REC has a time-of-day program that comes with a $300 one-time fee. After paying this fee, the utility’s $5.75 per kW demand charge will be waived on the weekends.
City of Provo
The City of Provo offers a TOU rate with an on-peak cost of $0.15 per kWh and an off-peak rate of $0.07 per kWh. On-peak hours last from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m.
