Commercial and Multifamily EV Charging Station Rebates in Delaware

DNREC created the EV charging equipment rebate for public and commercial charging projects, totaling $1 million in funding available on a first-come, first-served basis.

The rebate amount is 60% of the total cost for workplace, fleet, and public EV charging. Government buildings and facilities used by non-profits can get up to 80%. You can claim a rebate of up to $2,500 per single-port charger or $5,000 per dual-port charger, covering up to 10 ports.

This program also supports multifamily EV charging projects, with up to $3,500 for a single port and $7,000 per dual charger.

Most properties can get up to 75% of the cost of the charger and up to 60% to help cover installation costs. If you own or manage a multifamily property in a priority area, the rebate will cover up to 90% of the charger and 80% of installation costs. Note that only apartments and condos with four or more units can qualify

To further help EV owners reduce charging costs by encouraging off-peak charging, utilities in Delaware offer time-of-use (TOU) electricity rates designed to lower the cost of charging EVs.

If you sign up for Delaware Electric Cooperative’s time-of-use plan you can pay as little as $0.02 per kWh during off-peak hours. In addition, EV owners can sign up for Beat the Peak alerts, which the utility will issue on hot days when energy usage goes up. You’ll get $25 just for signing up and potentially receive $5 monthly if you avoid charging your EV during these alerts.

Delmarva Power

Delmarva Power offers an optional time-of-use rate where you’ll pay $0.14 per kWh at all times except from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m., when you’ll pay $0.25 per kWh.

NRG Energy

If you take advantage of NRG Energy’s Delaware EV rebate and claim your free charger, the utility will enroll you into its EV Power Charger Plan. This plan comes with a fixed rate based on your zip code.
