A Standard Installation must comply with the following guidelines:

• Installation must be completed at a residential property (a single-family home, duplex, condo, or townhome) with a dedicated electrical meter.
• Charging hardware must be attached to the same structure as the main electrical panel.
• Customer is solely responsible for obtaining any prior consents or approval from any applicable homeowner’s association, property owner (if customer does not own the residential property where the charging hardware will be installed), or other third party.  

Standard Installation includes the following:

• Provide and install externally mounted, electrical code-compliant wiring and conduit.
• Provide and install a properly sized breaker.
• Main Panel load calculation.
• Charger hardwiring, mounting, and testing.
• Installation by a Qmerit Certified Installer. All Qmerit Certified Installers are licensed, background checked, and trained on the latest home electrification technologies.
• Permitting and Inspection fees (as required by local jurisdiction).

Standard Installation exclusions must be paid for directly by the customer.  A Standard Installation excludes the following:

• Installation of charging hardware at apartment or multi-family buildings or any residence without a dedicated electrical meter.
• Upgrades to electrical infrastructure, including, but not limited to, panel/subpanel upgrades or additions, load management devices, a main service disconnect, or whole home surge protection.
  • If your home does not have sufficient ampacity to support an EV charging load, an electrical service infrastructure upgrade will be required and paid for by the customer.
• Trenching
  • Trenches are not required in most EV charger installations but are necessary in cases where a charger will be installed on a standalone pedestal or in a detached garage.
• Installations of a new circuit greater than 60 amps.
  • Charging circuits greater than 60-amps necessitate a relatively large amount of electricity and may require home electrical upgrades to support.
  • The typical EV Charging circuit Qmerit installs in homes within the USA is between 30-60-amps.
• Wiring runs that exceed 80 feet or are internally mounted inside of a wall.
  • Standard installation provides wiring within conduit that is externally mounted and visible to the customer which is typical in EV charging installations to avoid the extra cost and hassle of demoing and repairing drywall, stucco, and finished surfaces.
• Drywall, stucco, plaster, concrete or any other repairs to walls, ceilings or floors as a result of penetration for wiring runs.
  • Qmerit Certified Installers will attempt to minimize impacts on your home surfaces from the EV charging installation.  In certain cases, some drywall penetration may be required.

Some excluded services listed above are optional, but others may be required if your home’s electrical infrastructure must be upgraded to safely support an EV Charger.

An electrical meter measures the amount of electricity used by a building and is generally located on an exterior wall of the home. Nearly all single-family homes have a dedicated electrical meter.

Many, but not all, multifamily homes have a dedicated electrical meter which is a  separate meter for each dwelling often clustered together on the side of the building.  If uncertain if your multi-family home has a dedicated meter, consult your property owner.

Customers will receive an email from customerservice@qmerit.com. Please proceed with the instructions outlined in the email to facilitate the installation process.

Note, Customer must claim the Standard Installation Offer from Qmerit by March 31, 2025 using the Activation Code provided by Qmerit via email. The Installation Offer will be applied by Qmerit to their final verified invoice. Installation of Charging Hardware must be completed by June 30, 2025, so Ford recommends that Customer follow the instructions from Qmerit in a timely manner, including submitting their required digital home charging assessment to Qmerit by May 30, 2025.  Failure to complete the Standard Installation by June 30, 2025 may result in your ineligibility for the Installation Offer, in Ford’s sole discretion.

The end-to-end installation timeline depends on your availability, the receipt of your charger, and how quickly your local municipality can issue a permit. You should allow 3-6 weeks to complete the entire installation process.
