Qmerit is North America’s leading provider of installation services for EV charging and other electrification technologies. A standard installation must comply with the following guidelines: 

• Located at a residential property; limited to single-family homes, duplex, condo, or townhome provided the residence has a dedicated meter. 
• Main electrical panel and location of charging station must be attached to the same structure. 
• Wiring runs are externally mounted and visible to the homeowner. 
• HOA, landlord or any required third-party approval must be obtained by the homeowner. 
• All work to be completed to appropriate code standards and with applicable permits as required by local jurisdiction. 

Standard Installation includes the following:

• Provide and install externally mounted, electrical code-compliant wiring and conduit, maximum 50 ft.
• Provide and install a properly sized breaker, maximum 60 amps.
• Main Panel load calculation.
• Charger hardwiring, mounting, testing, and commissioning.
• Installation by a Qmerit Certified Installer. All Qmerit Certified Installers are licensed, background checked, and trained on the latest home electrification technologies.

Standard Installation exclusions must be paid for directly by the customer.  Standard Installation excludes the following:

• Apartments, multi-story buildings or any residence where a dedicated meter is not present.
• Electrical service infrastructure upgrades including, but not limited to, main panel/subpanel upgrades or additions, load management devices, a main service disconnect, or whole home surge protection.
  • If your home does not have sufficient ampacity to support an EV charging load, an electrical service infrastructure upgrade will be required and paid for by the customer.
• Trenching
  • Trenches are not required in most EV charger installations but are necessary in cases where a charger will be installed on a standalone pedestal or in a detached garage.
• Installations of a new circuit greater than 60 amps.
  • Charging circuits greater than 60-amps necessitate a relatively large amount of electricity and may require home electrical upgrades to support.
  • The typical EV Charging circuit Qmerit installs in homes within the USA is between 30-60-amps.
• Wiring runs that exceed 50 feet or routed through or concealed within walls, ceilings, or other spaces with restricted access.
• Drywall, stucco, plaster, concrete or any other repairs to walls, ceilings or floors as a result of penetration for wiring runs.
  • Qmerit Certified Installers will attempt to minimize impacts on your home surfaces from the EV charging installation.  In certain cases, some drywall penetration may be required.
• Circuit breakers that aren’t dedicated to the new EV charger circuit (for example, quad breakers and tandem breakers).
• Installation of 240v electrical outlets and GFCI Breakers.
• Level 2 charging or electrical upgrade permitting fees including fees by Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) and any additional costs for necessary engineering, inspections, and administration.

Some excluded services listed above are optional, but others may be required if your home’s electrical infrastructure must be upgraded to safely support an EV Charger.

An electrical meter measures the amount of electricity used by a building and is generally located on an exterior wall of the home. Nearly all single-family homes have a dedicated electrical meter.

Many, but not all, multifamily homes have a dedicated electrical meter which is a  separate meter for each dwelling often clustered together on the side of the building.  If uncertain if your multi-family home has a dedicated meter, consult your property owner.

Customers will receive an email from customerservice@qmerit.com. Please proceed with the instructions outlined in the email to facilitate the installation process.

Note, Customer must claim the Standard Installation Offer from Qmerit by September 30, 2025 using the Activation Code provided by Qmerit via email. The Installation Offer will be applied by Qmerit to their final verified invoice. Installation of Charging Hardware must be completed by December 31, 2025, so Ford recommends that customers follow the instructions from Qmerit in a timely manner, including submitting their required digital home charging assessment to Qmerit by September 30, 2025.  Failure to complete the Standard Installation by December 31, 2025 may result in your ineligibility for the Installation Offer, in Ford’s sole discretion.

Yes, as long as the Qmerit Assessment is completed by September 30, 2025 and the complimentary Standard Installation is completed by December 31, 2025.

The end-to-end installation timeline depends on your availability, the receipt of your charger, and how quickly your local municipality can issue a permit. You should allow 3-6 weeks to complete the entire installation process.
