Although electric vehicle (EV) adoption in Nebraska has been relatively slow, the state’s below-average electricity rates and utility-backed financial incentives could help create growth within the state.

Let’s take a closer look at the many Nebraska EV rebate programs offered by local utilities and explore how much you could save on EV adoption.

Nebraska EV Tax Credits and Rebates

While as of 2025, the state of Nebraska doesn’t have any EV-related incentives for its residents or businesses, you can still save thousands by taking advantage of federal tax credits to reduce your tax bill.

Federal Tax Credits

Some EV makes and models qualify for a nonrefundable income tax credit of up to $7,500. Additionally, after upgrading your home with a Level 2 EV charging station, you can also claim an Alternative Fuel Vehicle Refueling Credit of up to $1,000.

If you’re a business owner interested in electrification, you can claim this same EV credit of up to $7,500 per vehicle and get a base credit of 6% of the total cost of your commercial EV charging project. This credit can go up to 30% if your business meets wages and apprenticeship requirements.
