Nevada is one U.S. state currently making significant strides in expanding its electric vehicle (EV) charging network by leveraging public and private investments.

Plumas-Sierra Rural Electric Cooperative
While there are no statewide incentives to buying an EV, Plumas-Sierra Rural Electric Cooperative members can take advantage of a $500 rebate when purchasing an electric vehicle.
This incentive is available to drivers registered in Plumas, Sierra, Lassen, or Washoe Counties who are replacing a gas-powered vehicle with an EV.
To receive the rebate, you will also need to provide proof that your home is equipped with a properly installed EV charger.
Nevada EV Charger Rebates
Nevada residents also have the opportunity to save on EV chargers thanks to programs offered by local utility companies within the state.
These utility initiatives help make home charging more accessible while further supporting the state’s shift toward a more sustainable future.
Lincoln County Power District
Residents who receive their electricity from the Lincoln County Power District can benefit from a program offering free EV chargers and EV charger installation services. In exchange, customers are expected to charge their EVs only from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m., which helps reduce grid strain.
NV Energy
As Nevada’s largest utility, NV Energy serves over 2.4 million customers across 44,000 square miles.
As part of its $100 million investment in EV charging infrastructure, the utility is offering incentives to businesses and public entities for installing public EV charging stations.
For Level 2 EV charging projects, the incentive will cover 75% of the total project cost with a $30,000 cap or $3,000 per charging connector, depending on which amount is lower.
For DC Fast charging locations, NV Energy offers $400 per kWh, with a cap of $40,000.
Nevada EV Charging Rates
Nevada residents can also save on EV charging by taking advantage of time-of-use (TOU) programs with a lower kWh rate when demand is lower at night.

NV Energy offers a time-of-use plan, offering rates of $0.50 per kWh during on-peak hours and a significantly reduced rate of only $0.09 per kWh during off-peak hours from 10 p.m. to 8 a.m.
The utility also provides time-of-use rates for business and multifamily properties, making cost-effective energy management accessible across different sectors.
Public EV Charging in Nevada
Nevada is currently investing $38 million in NEVI funding to build EV charging stations along the state’s major highways.
The funding is also being used to issue grants for public charging stations, including financing a partnership between NV Energy and the state’s Office of Energy.
How Many Public EV Charging Stations Are in Nevada?
Nevada currently has 622 charging locations with over 2,000 EV charging ports.
This number includes 516 Level 2 EV charging locations with over 1,400 ports and 116 DC Fast charging spots with more than 840 Level 3 EV chargers.
The state also has plenty of Tesla Superchargers, with 49 locations and more than 660 ports currently available.
How Much Do Public EV Charging Stations Cost in Nevada?
Pricing varies from one location to another, but EV drivers should also expect DC Fast charging to be more expensive than Level 2 EV charging, although that is not always the case.
For example, the DC fast charging station in Alamo, NV, offers full charging sessions for just $2, while other public charging stations can charge a service fee in addition to higher rates per kWh.
